Very early this morning, Israeli forces entered a large hospital in Gaza. US and Israeli intelligence indicated that Hamas (terrorist) presence was in the hospital and likely in tunnels below. Hamas forces were encountered and eliminated; medical personnel were interrogated room-by-room (Morning BBC Radio News Snippets for US audiences, WED 15 NOV 2023). As of 16 NOV there was no evidence of Hamas presence under the hospital, but automated weapons were found in the MRI room (NBC Nightly News, THU 16 NOV 2023).
Biked ~40 minutes this morning, after DuoLingo language class. CMP/museums president, Steve Knapp held an all-staff meeting. Saw Pat McS before, over tea and an in-house donut. After talking mostly about visiting exhibits, Steve mentioned Jenise Brown (our latest 40 Under 40 person). Steve also spoke mostly about the Campaign, and fiscal planning issues, and about goals and objectives. CyVa and I sat quietly and listened. I congratulated JB for her award; and Cy and I chatted with a new NHI, Silas, as well.
Went to an appointment with the doctor, and met the 3rd-year medical student, as well.
I went shopping in Bloomfield, had a snack at M and D's (to balance the bao for lunch), took care of some correspondence (some by phone), helped M with Thanksgiving preparations, and had dinner.
Soon, it will be time for the annual budget meeting, and then for the end part of the UMW Zoom meeting.
I asked some questions at the annual budget meeting, then hopped on Zoom for our UMW meeting (to which I was not invited, but I found out about a controversial soon-to-be movement to be voted).
I agree with the compassion and sentiment of the amended statement, but to have all 900 Union members represented by the few people who chose to vote for the statement seems unfair. I think we lacked a quorum...
Ate mini pumpkin pie with M. Time for sleep soon.
