Thuy's Farewell Party
Today Thuy L., our Wellesley regional alumnae club VP, is on her way to Los Angeles, where she and her husband have relocated. She mentioned his calling her from his cell phone on the beach and describing the seascape from there.
At her farewell party, I conversed with a number of her friends, including Nikki (who works in the BST), Earl S. (a Pinoy engineer manager), Louis L. and Jessica L. (who work and live near me), Bruce L. (who models infectious disease through populations), several of her fellow book club members, and Joanne La R. (an attorney who graciously hosted the party). There were delicious Vietnamese fare (fresh lumpia-style wraps with tofu, chicken, or shrimp and rice stick noodles with mint and savory soy-based sauce; and grilled shrimp-and-beef skewers), nori sushi, and plenteous desserts, including chocolate cake with a cheesecake filling. All so delicious, coupled with wonderful discussions with the guests and with Thuy, who was dream-waking of her new home 2000 miles away as the end of the evening approached.
