How little we know
How little we know...
...of each other, of people with whom we are friends or with whom we work. Case in point: Today after I read for daily Mass, our coffee klatch met and discussed various topics and shared diverse personal information. I shared my mom's professional life and the number of siblings my dad had and currently has. Mary Lou E. was quite surprised to find out this information, and noted it duly to the others in our intimate group this morning. How we work, are neighborly, and worship alongside others and yet know so little about them (and about ourselves)!
...of the world. And I'm thankful for that: Otherwise, we wouldn't have need of all these fields of study which add so much to our understanding of our kaleidoscopic world.
...of ourselves. Two individuals today shared how others ever-so-briefly touched their lives, just to mention to them possible future vocations. The Spirit moves in mysterious ways.
...of the future. What will my nieces and nephew grow up to be? What directions will my career and life take me? Now is a time to be open to possibilities.
