Adam's Concert, and Ocular Migraine
Yesterday, after noon Mass (when Fr. Mike R wished us all a joyous day that God has given us), Mom, Dad, and I had lunch chez their home.
After helping them get together themselves for Beatrice's practice this afternoon, I departed for Adam's concert, as part of the concert series.
Adam performed his concert in sets:
Dialogue sur Les Grands Jeux (Nicolas de Grigny)
Recit de Tierce en Taille (from Francois Couperin's Messe pour les Convents)
Te Deum (dedicated to Adam by Robert Farrell)
Passacaglia in d minor (Dietrich Buxtehude, teacher of J. S. Bach)
Passacaglia and Fugue in c minor (J. S. Bach)
Moto Ostinato
Finale

The movements from Eben's piece were at times ethereal and spirit-laden.
The program notes state that Adam J. Brakel is one of America's leading young concert organists....He is hailed by NPR as "An absolute prodigy and virtuoso whose huge repertoire encompasses the entire spectrum of organ literature, all while being nicknamed The Franz Liszt of the Organ."
It was fun to chat with Adam after the concert, and his choir friends joined him for dinner, during which time I experienced a strong (but, thankfully, relatively short-lived) ocular migraine. My seatmate described to me his experiences with ocular migraines, as well.
