St. Paul Cathedral--Blue Sunday
This past Sunday was Blue Sunday at St. Paul's Cathedral to honor police officers who died in the line of duty. Fr. Tom Burke's father, William Burke, gave the introductory remarks. The Mass was said by Bishop Donald W. Wuerl, sung by the choir, with other officers singing "God Bless America;" playing an echoed rendition of "Taps," singing "Danny Boy," and piping "Amazing Grace" (while giving a rifle salute after the roll call of officers). The service was a solemn occasion attended by hundreds.
