"...except he's cold," Anna said about her dad. "He looks like [he's sleeping], except..."
Anna's dad is now at peace. He's no longer in any pain.

After departing Freyvogel funeral home, I dined chez Elaine's, on pizza from Schwan's, and we listened to the NBC six o'clock news, discussed voting (she is a poll worker), and generally had a pleasant evening. I departed when Jeopardy! was being broadcast.

The Greek Orthodox service at St. Nicholas' Cathedral in Oakland was beautifully sung by the priest and deacon. They sang, read scripture, delivered homilies/eulogies, and we all had a chance to bid farewell to John. Tito Ben acted as videographer, and Fanny's brother Jerry was main photographer. Anna seemed unmoved emotionally by the whole event, being a child. After we all piled in our cars (me with Tita Tina and Tita Leila) and the Freyvogel people placed funeral cortege flags on the cars, the fire truck and EMT/ambulance pulled into the street in front of the Cathedral. Fanny's sister was taken, as she was not feeling well.
After a brief sung service at the gravesite, we each placed flowers on his casket. We piled back into our cars and drove back to the cathedral dining room for a sit-down lunch.
As we said our farewells, we briefed Fanny about what to expect. We saw Anna as we departed, who was preoccupied with her friends.
