Holy Saturday and Easter VIgil Mass 2015

Today was grading day (grade animal development prelabs online, and enter outcomes in my gradesheets).

I also sang in the choir for Easter Vigil Mass at Saint Paul Cathedral.

I arrived after the Carnegie Brass and timpanist and Ken and Don were already in the loft, about an hour before Mass started at 8.34PM.  The Mass lasted about as long as one of my class sections last each week...two hours and fifty minutes.  (Except I teach a section times four each week!)

The Cathedral was shrouded in darkness by the time of the start of Mass.  The darkness was pierced by the voice of Bishop Zubik, then by his singing "The Light of Christ" and our responding "Thanks be to God."  Soon after the light from the Easter Candle was passed from the seminarians in the center aisle to each pew and out towards the windows.  The ceremonial Celebration of Light ended with the Cathedral building being bathed in light right before the Liturgy of the Word.

Liturgy of the Word
The exsultet was sung gloriously by a second-year seminarian who had visited the loft right before Mass.  Scripture and psalms sung included Psalm 33 (the Earth is full) and Exodus 14 (I will sing to the Lord) with Sean and Linda O cantoring.  Ted W read two of the readings.
