WED 03 JULY 2019 to WED 31 JULY 2019 Auntie Isang passes away...Christmas in July!

WED 03 JULY 2019- This morning, Fr Peter Gruber and 13 gathered for Bible study for Sunday the 7th JULY 2019:Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Lectionary: 102). I was happy to read the Gospel for our group, with less than 15 minutes left of the hour of discussion.

Afterwards, Tnsh stopped by. Late that evening M and I sent an invite to the siblings for the parents' anniversary dinner.

THU 04 July 2019- Did my PT-a exercises this morning, watched the show Strange Inheritance with M (the dentures/ teeth of Winston Churchill, Benjamin Netinyahu, Alex Trebek from July 2018, and a series of 4 letters from JFK to a mother of a fellow PT-109 crew member), had brunch, and made reservations for their anniversary dinner.
Doing some computer work this afternoon. Watched the fireworks from Boston on television chez D and M. Loved the music from the bandshell on the Boston side of the Charles.

 FRI 05 July 2019- Started a pottery project today.

SAT 06 July 2019- Strived to stay cool today.

SUN 07 JULY 2019- D served as a Eucharistic Minister at noon Mass today, so D, M and I went to Mass then. Fr. Dan Walsh celebrated the Mass. Ken and Linda provided the music ministry at the Beckerath and by cantoring. Music included:

The Recessional Hymn was sung at the close of every college-wide Chapel gathering when I was an undergraduate. I have told Mom about the song and how we sang it at the end of chapel.

We enjoyed the dinner, soup and salad bar for a late lunch at Eat N Park. Watched America's Got Talent auditions with Dad.

MON 08 JULY 2019- Caught up with correspondence and phone calls today. Delivered a letter. Stopped at the main library to pick up a reserve/ request/ hold, to pick up some new books, and to put a request in for Mary Lou's recommended book. Enjoyed a snack with peanut butter on various stationary, edible surfaces (e.g.- crackers, apples). Computing now.

TUE 09 JULY 2019- Stopped at CVS for tea on the way, then dropped shoes off for repairs with Mark/ Marc. Seemed a simple repair of soles and flat-ish heels. Mid-afternoon went grocery shopping in Friendship and Bloomfield. 

WED 10 JULY 2019- Drove D and me to Bible Study. Fr Peter Gruber and 11 of us discussed the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C. Tnsha stopped by.  DR and I went for ice cream (Coffee cookies and cream with coconut flavors for me), first waffle cone for me!

THU 11 JULY 2019- Chill out day, just do A and B PT exercises. This week I have been clearing space chez moi.

FRI 12 JULY 2019-  Started and finished two clay projects for soap today. Very wave-oriented. K there, too.
Shredded office paper after. 
PAPAGP meeting in Shadyside at 18.00. Had half of an Asian sesame salad. Very productive meeting.

SAT 13 JULY 2019- Drove M and D to the Doo Wop live music event at the Kingsley Association in Bakery Square/ East Liberty. Lots of photos! After lunch, M and I went to Rite Aid and to Littles for shoe shopping in Squirrel Hill.

SUN 14 JULY 2019- Marseillaise Day! MVK and I attended the 11.00 Mass (celebrated by Fr Mike Darcy) and sat behind Keith C and his family, and next to Kyle and Maggie and their family. Right after Mass we went to La Gourmandine for pastries (un Gourmandise et un pain chocolat  pour moi, les deux variations de pain chocolat)! After happy snackage we went to visit the Tryp Hotel (aka Washington Polytechnic School. 
Weeded my closet, with help thanks to MVK. Called BAM and sang greetings, as his Lolo and Lola had already.

MON 15 JULY 2019- Made plans for mid-August with SH for a visit to CSC. Shared a letter for a future PAPAGP event.
Auntie Isang Gonzales passed away, 98/99 this weekend. Eternal rest grant to her, O Lord. And may perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in Peace.

TUE 16 JULY 2019- Went to the South Side to sell a color block dress and to donate items. Got a great pink purse and a MR lunch box! Donated a big (produce) box of clothes. Went for a couple of grocery items on the South Side. After lunch, M and I went to get her glasses Uptown, for a prescription in Friendship, and are chilling right now. Making ice cubes for halo-halo---but not yet.

WED 17 JULY 2019- Bible Study for Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. I read the 2nd reading for our group of Fr Peter + 10.

 Tnsha stopped by. Went to BVCenter with M, donated on the South Side, back to BVR for a binocular glasses adjustment, went to CVS to return recalled 2 boxes of ophthalmic items. Also got D's favorite ice cream flavor. Dinner, went with RDK to Nick Will's organ recital in Heinz Chapel. Ran into RDK's friends and also DKF, as well.  First draft of the Fall Reunion Program for M's medical school class.

THU 18 JULY 2019- Did next draft of the Reunion Program booklet, approved by M, and I forwarded it to a couple of the classmates. Made macaroni and cheese and hot dogs for lunch. Returned M's purchase for D at Waterworks. Had a travel list and visited
the travel store, TJ Maxx, 5 Below, Marshalls, Bed Bath and Beyond. I got a waterproof cell phone protector...
Torta for dinner; over Jeopardy! with a new math professor champion after a sudden death question due to a tie.

FRI 19 JULY 2019- Took care of exercises and phone correspondence this morning---made a peanut butter and banana sandwich for my take-with lunch, doodled with oil pastels this afternoon for ~50 minutes. I made my typical green rolling hills with elements of sky, sun, earth, water, and vegetation. This reminded me of Hans Jenny's climate, organic matter, relief, parent material, and time. I usually focus on the edges between 2 or more elements (the elements being the first 5 elements, grouped above,) when creating/ making art. This time I set each element in separate parts of the 'scape because when one regards the scene before oneself, one rarely looks at the edges between two or more elements...one usually focuses on one element at a time. I realize now that it is usually only artists or scientists or hunters who focus on the edges between elements in the scene. For example, I have discussed how I regard and address the edges when looking at any 2 or more elements of sky, sun, earth, water, and vegetation when making art. Scientists are interested in the interactions between different 'scape elements, for it is there that interesting changes take place. And hunters will look at the horizon to determine gathering of prey and predator. So will birders, for that matter. 

For about an hour I spent making another soap dish, this one shaped like a hand. Then it was time to meet M and D and WA for our journey to see SC's performance at the end of the week of theater/acting camp. It was so hot before that we ducked into a little Pittsburgh shop nearby to cool down. What a great set of skits the four student groups acted out. They were mostly strangers to each other, and the written, produced, and acted presentations were wonderful, charming, and great. D and M and I went to the drugstore (and groceries) in Friendship/ Shadyside for supplies before eating dinner and watching a new Jeopardy! champion win (yet another math professor)! Chatted by phone with MVK this evening.

SAT 20 JULY 2019- Anniversary of the moon landing (the Apollo 11 mission)! DMc shared with me yesterday the Google doodle, which was narrated by Michael Collins.
Ran an errand in the neighborhood.
DR and I stopped in Friendship to make a return before going to Klavon's, for the first time! I got a peach paradise waffle cone and DR got a cup. We enjoyed the ice cream and discussed how Ben and Jerry took the Penn State ice cream making correspondence course, which was much cheaper than the several thousand dollars it costs now.

SUN 21 JULY 2019- Fr Daniel Walsh celebrated the noon Mass today, and Gerry G and I lectored/ read (Readings 1 &2, respectively). Christina Mc was the cantor and Don provided organ sounds from the loft. Ted W was the sacristan (behind-the-scenes), and Luca and the two sisters served as acolytes.

Took a nap while D and M went to CostCo. I then went for supplies at CVS, picked up some icy treats on the way to WA, MM, B and S's to get a can for leche plan...kinda small.
Watched NBC Nightly News whilst M and I chastised D for buying two long baguettes this afternoon....there is no way we can eat all those before they get hard tomorrow morning!
No preservatives, including oil.

MON 22 JULY 2019- Finished reading the book MLB recommended to me at 1400 today. Got some stuff done for M via computer. Sent email messages to Lori G and MZB. Planning for an event. Unplugged the old (tube) television in preparation for....

TUE 23 JULY 2019- My neighbor CM helped me to bring the tube TV to get recycled on the South Side. There was a police officer's funeral at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial on the way home, which meant most cross streets between Forbes and 5th were closed to traffic from Oakland all the way to Negley in Shadyside.
That evening D and M and I went to L and JP's to participate in 2-year memorial prayers for JP's Mom, AC. Many others were included in the prayers and the litany of the saints, on the prompting of JP. Fr Ronnie from a parish in Freeport in the Greensburg Diocese facilitated. We partook of an appetizer table, and then a generous spread for kamayan. We stayed until the beginning of the 11 o'clock news.

WED 24 JULY 2019- Bible Study discussion was led by Fr. Mike (+8), where we mostly discussed updates of Bible Study for the hour. Tnsha stopped by, spoke with TRO on the phone. We had a 17.00 appointment at Kaya in the Strip District for Kaya's re-inauguration of kamayan for this season! We greatly enjoyed the lavish meal for 9-- D and M, WA, MM, B, S, k, K, and me!

THU 25 JULY 2019- Two S Oakland appointments this morning. CM my neighbor helped me to move some boxes from storage upstairs, and to rotate the bed in the super-air-conditioned room.

FRI 26 JULY 2019- Filled Rx boxes this morning. Attempted to make waves in clay, made 2 buttons, and attempted another set of waves in clay. Met up with TMc. Shredded many papers. Watched Jeopardy! with M, helped her with capturing a CD disc on my older computer for her class reunion later.

SAT 27 JULY 2019- Ran an errand with D Downtown, then we drove to the museum for my work: Hyalite Opal (79) from Zacatecas, MX was my spot for the early portion of the afternoon. There were visitors there from: the Carnegie Mellon pre-college program and their families, local visitors, visitors from the Tri-State area, VA, NY, Ontario/Niagara area, and China.
Cleaned and organized the living room a bit this afternoon; watched Jeopardy! with M.

SUN 28 JULY 2019- Cleaned and organized the living room a bit this morning---emptied out more chemistry and environmental sciences binders. Lectored (1) at today's Mass, the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C. Fr. Mark Thomas celebrated the Mass, Ted W was the sacristan, with Louis and Luca as the servers. Ken provided music from the loft. Carole DiC lectored with me (2).

Right before we said a prayer in the sacristy, Fr. Mark asked me about the readings, and I replied that I thought that part of the Gospel was the opposite/antipodes of the passage about the faithful virgins. (The Gospel today mentions a friend asking to borrow three loaves of bread....and goes on to state that "[You should] Ask and you shall receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.")

MON 29 JULY 2019- Took the bus Downtown run some errands, including to the bank, to drop off a library book, and to submit my PP application in person.

TUE 30 JULY 2019- Cleaned up, got D and M poke for lunch (THanks to J O, for Father's Day), started a list for PKB/ Marietta, and went with DR to an event at the Mansion on Fifth. Met some nice people at our table. Tasty food. Went home before the rain; then I was sorting and organizing items there. M called, needed something scanned and copied, so I did; I drove with H (with D in back seat) so that H could go home. Boy, was it  pouring out!! Lintik, too. Am hanging out at D and M until the rain subsides a tad.

WED 31 JULY 2019- Took care of things around the home, colorful things. Tnsha stopped by. I stopped by D and M, organized and mailed some Media Mail items for M's classmates, made some purchases from Tuesday Morning, headed back home. Dealt with travel items. Prepped a suitcase. Rested for a bit. Now I work at the computer.
