Went to church twice today

After singing for the noon Mass with Nancy C.'s section; Mom, Dad and I went out for lunch at Lulu's Noodles. We enjoyed honey pork, lo mein noodles (delicious!), and eggplant with veggies and fried tofu. Shia-Pih stopped by our table with her mango smoothie (my favorite) while waiting for her carry-out order. We were inspired, and ordered mango smoothie, too.

Later that afternoon, Nancy C. and I headed to Pitt's Alumni Hall for the presentation of Black Nativity, presented by the Shona Sharif African Dance and Drum Ensemble. The first half of the program was the story of Jesus' birth, and the second part of the program celebrated the community of the Gospel church. Kuumba workshop joined with them, as did many CAPA High School students. Of particular note were the inclusion of generations in the production, including the very young, some of whom are burgeoning, talented dancers. The drumming was reminiscent of the celebration of reading at the Homewood Library, with poetry, singing, and dancing. It also reminded me of the drumming at the UCRiverside Native American Students' group, with women singing behind the immediate drumming circle. The heartbeat of the nation...

Visited Mom, Dad, and Beatrice after that, and sat and snacked and chatted with William and Marissa, too. Took some photos of Mom and Dad with Beatrice, too.
