Carnegie Museum of Art and Phipps Conservatory Winter Flower Show 2011

This evening Stacy and I took in the trees (50th Anniversary trees, "Solid Gold" was the theme this year), the Presepio, and the "Teenie Harris, Photographer: An American Story" exhibit at the Carnegie Museums. We sat, rapt, enveloped in Manchester Craftsman's Guild jazz written expressly for the exhibit, in the semi-darkness of the continuous slide shows (seven, I believe, in the gallery) and watched a wall of slides about "At Home," "Crossroads," and "Style" projected on the wall in front of us. We then moved into the next gallery to look at contact prints of his large format film from the last gallery, replete with computers in a bank in the center of the room and hand-held i-Phones with attached earphones to dial in the exhibition number to find out more information about select photographs.

The Phipps Winter Flower Show was nothing short of sparklingly dazzling. It was difficult to take photos in low-light conditions, resulting in 1/2 to 1 second exposures. We asked a passerby to take a photo of us with a tree decorated with multi-color lights in the background. We were very pleased with the outcome and with our visits tonight.

Stacy was kind to drop me off after our adventures.
