Tuesday, Wednesday- Hostess For Julie, Larry, and Chloe
Julie, Larry, and Chloe arrived at about noon Tuesday, driving in a little yellow Beetle from the International Airport. We dropped off their luggage, then walked to Pan-Asian food for lunch. Visiting the exterior of the Mellon Institute and the interior of Heinz Chapel along the way, we ended up at the Nationality Rooms of the Cathedral of Learning, where we met up with Marissa, Beatrice, and Solomon. We started at the Chinese Room, went clockwise, then visited the third floor rooms starting at the Austrian Room. Up to the highest floor one can visit (which is under construction), and then through a light rain to St. Paul Cathedral, where we basked in the cool, quiet interior of the cathedral.
Then, we joined Marissa and company at Lolo and Lola's for high tea, where we donned various hats. We truly enjoyed each others' company! Marissa whispered to Chloe about the opportunity for karaoke, and we were off. We also enjoyed the FIFA women's semi-final soccer match of USA v. Germany...USA won, 2-0. After the game, we ate large amounts of frozen yogurt. Back to home to rest for a big day today (Wednesday).
Today (Wednesday) I photocopied some items for Joyce before everyone awoke. We enjoyed breakfast at Pamela's in Oakland. Chloe and I both enjoyed the croissant French toast. Julie and I walked to the Post Office to mail a set of papers to Joyce (ran into a former student on the way), whilst Larry and Chloe went window-shopping and coffee at Starbucks. We headed back home to gather luggage and take photos of various permutations of us. I sent them off with a "Safe Travels!" wish, waving goodbye to them as they departed.
Returned to help Mom before she left for her medical class reunion today at 3.30 in the afternoon. Made her a sandwich and helped her get help at the ticket counter. Dad was the designated driver. Dad and I went to grocery shop and to retrieve my watch from a jeweler. Took a nap, responded to several emails, and am getting ready for the evening Bible Study.

Joe led the Bible study. Julia and Michael and Shawna were all very outspoken, as well as yours truly. Josh was a newcomer to Bible study. One of us spoke about Saint Thomas, the Apostle, and how he is a patron saint to prevent blindness. (And I thought it was just Saint Lucy!)
