CHOIReland--an overview

CHOIReland was wonderful: A combination of scheduled performances in churches, impromptu singing in churches and hotel bars; visiting churches and castles; beautiful, diverse landscapes; delicious dinners; filling breakfasts; jaunting cart rides; a cruise on a river and lake in Galway; strengthening friendships; making new friends; wonderful participatory entertainment at Bunratty Castle and at the Merry Plough Boy; visits to folk parks; postcards; walks through great towns; a sing-athon with German tourists; delicious Dingle ice cream; seeing some of the Book of Kells and the Long Room; NOT drinking alcohol AND drinking the water; NOT kissing the ROCK ("You receive the gift of gab"---"I don't need to be gifted with that any more than I already am!"); NOT dancing AND dancing; and many more interesting and not-so-interesting events discussed over brunch today. Brent of our group recorded some of our performances; he also collected quotes from the group. We travelled with two priests, three sisters (two of whom are sisters, too), and a bevy of moms, sisters, and a cousin. Some brought their spouses. Our tour leader and coach driver were wonderful people and extremely gifted at what they do.

We left part of our CHOIReland group in Ireland, and in Philly, too: Perhaps "take part of where you go with you, leave part of you behind."
