Started ~12.40PM today. I took a nap to try to get rid of it. It worked.

WED 01 MAY 2019 to FRI 31 MAY 2019

WED 01 MAY 2019- May Day in England....M'aidez, peut-etre, en la France. Bible Study with Fr Mike Darcy (12), in which we read the Gospel reading first, then read the 1st and 2nd readings. I had the honor of proclaiming the first reading to our little group.

Drove Mom and Dad to their eye appointment at the Low Vision Center. The doctor was thorough, and focused on functionality for mom. A visit to Dick's Sporting Goods and to Costco ensued, including a run for gasoline.

THU 02 MAY 2019- Shq visited, and completed early. Did not have a chance to lay more liner paper for the kitchen. Will have to borrow the blade again next week, as well. Choir practice in the evening.

FRI 03 MAY 2019- Physical Therapy in the morning. A new intern, A, in addition to Trevor and the students. Took care of beginning-of-the-month bills and correspondence. Watched the continuing run for the money by James Holzhauer, who has $1.6+M in current gross winnings. On Monday, the Teacher's Tournament interrupts his streak.

SAT 04 MAY 2019- As Lynn Warfield on WQED announced, "May the Fourth Be With You!" This morning was devoted to 3 hours of organizing functional tools of my living. Went shopping for vitamins in North Oakland, and went shopping in Bloomfield, and North Oakland (for more nutritional supplements for Dad). Moved a box of files and stuff to my home de chez D et M. Chatted with JAH by phone tonight. Time for a treasure hunt!

05 MAY 2019- Watched the 03:55 and the 04:20 Marathon runners go by in the morning mist. Walked with Tom (EECM) to Church afterwards. Fr Kris Stubna celebrated the 10.00 AM Mass at the Cathedral, there were 5 servers (including Tim). Music ministry was provided by Don from the loft and by K, the cantor. Due to the road closures associated with the Pittsburgh Marathon, the Cathedral Choir did not sing today. There were at least approximately 3 Eucharistic Ministers, and Kimo (2) and I (1) lectored today.

Caught a ride with H and D to the Philippine American Performing Arts of Greater Pittsburgh (PAPAGP) meeting this afternoon in Friendship. Discussed our dance and other schedules for the dedication of the Philippine Nationality Room at the University of Pittsburgh this summer. Caught a ride back, as well.

Locksmith came by.

I plan to attend a comedy act at Homestead with DR tonight. Chris Titus made fun of practically all candidates running for the last US Presidential contest, both successful and not, for the good portion of the evening. Much appreciated was his take on the matter of "WE the People" (as opposed to "them.")

MON 06 MAY 2019- 10.44 EDT Spotted the birth of Harry and Meghan's royal baby boy within 15 minutes of the post on BBC.com/news/live

Mom went to an office this morning. I drove her.
Cleaned and organized at home for much of the afternoon.

Dinner and lunch at home, snack with Mom at her home. Helped her with communiques.
SEED electronic meeting with Brittany and Brad, and it was productive.
Delicious desserts with D and M, including cassava bibinka.

TUE 07 MAY 2019- Early morning physical therapy. Went to return my (2nd) sports guard, got color remover, and bought wallpaper repair items across the river this morning. Went to Aldi for fresh fruit. Neatened up my home, made chicken-pineapple macaroni salad with Mom. D and M and I watched Jeopardy! Teacher's Tournament. Wondering when W will show.

WED 08 MAY 2019- Taking care of misplaced articles. D and M had eye appointments in Uptown. We all went for burgers and fries, then groceries in Friendship and Bloomfield.

THU 09 MAY 2019- Early morning physical therapy. Locksmith fixed the lock. Got an ocular migraine. Went with DR to Omni William Penn for eats and a presentation. Great brisket slider!

FRI 10 MAY 2019- Tns, first visit. After a lunch that included macaroni chicken salad, I drove Mom to Upper St. Clair for an appointment.  Shopped in Friendship.

SAT 11 MAY 2019- Slept in for once. Used my data up watching YouTube.com, and was rewarded and chose a gift of 1 GB of data.
Spoke with Nancy for a bit. After the 18.00 Mass at the Cathedral the AC family stopped by, with tasty gifts from the PI. Handed off sheet music for the Tag Mass and also emailed sheet music to them soon after. Transferred (backed up) files from the computer.

SUN 12 MAY 2019- Happy Mother's Day!
I made a Mickey Mouse Banana Pancake with Sunny-side Up Egg Hat for Mom this morning. Regular pancakes and sunny-side up eggs for the rest of us, with tea and with mango nectar juice, strawberry and sweet marmalade jams, syrup, and butter.
Spent a good rest of the morning watching clips from Ellen show episodes. It will be a busy afternoon and evening, including SCMA's piano recital, dinner out, and Mass.

SCMA was the fourth to the last student playing in the recital. He performed

His teacher, Mr. Lee Kikuchi, was pleased with his progress over the course of the semester. SCMA's recital had a short reception afterwards, and his parents, grandparents, aunt, and sister were there.
Most of us went to a noodle house on the South Side for dinner: three of us enjoyed poke.
D and M and I went to Mass at the Oratory at 21.00. Fr. Paul Werley celebrated the Mass. Steve, a some-time chorister, sat behind us.

MON 13 MAY 2019- DR and I went to Casbah to celebrate her birthday! We shared sourdough bread and Veal and Pork Meatballs (with polenta, roasted tomato, garlic, crispy Brussels sprouts, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese) for the appetizer. DR and I also shared two pasta plates:
Orecchiette (with grilled chicken, dried cranberries, Riverview Farms goat cheese, sage cream), and
Gnocchi (with duck confit, pearl onion, forest mushrooms, green beans, English Peas, ricotta salata).

Because it was cold and misty we decided to save the ice cream run for another day (literally took a rain check!).

TUE 14 MAY 2019- A morning physical therapy appointment, and a late morning meeting with a friend. Got a T shirt/ sweatshirt in Oakland on the way home. Listened to the end of a book, As You Wish, and weeded my closet. Also spent some time today organizing audio-visual materials to be transferred later. Watched with M and D some of the semifinalists in Teacher's Tournament Jeopardy! compete this evening.

WED 15 MAY 2019- Attended Bible Study with D. Fr. Peter Gruber and 10 additional attendees. Tsa stopped by. I drove M to Upper Saint Clair for her appointment. Chatted with Cathy. Southside shopping. PAPAGP meeting in South Oakland.

THU 16 MAY 2019- Drove D downtown, groceries on the way past Bloomfield. M and I had early afternoon appointments for physical therapy. Last choir rehearsal. Lee provided post-practice snackage.

FRI 17 MAY 2019- Took the bus to the meeting at Cathedral. Chatted with Margarete B and spotted Henry on the way into the building. Seven attendees. I had a passerby take a photo with my camera  on phone.  Students from Oakland Catholic and Steel Valley were seen milling about and taking photos (their prom night).

SAT 18 MAY 2019- M and I met Dr. D, M, and I for 16.00 Mass at the Oratory. Discussions abounded about a 40 day Mass. Plans were made.

SUN 19 MAY 2019- Aisha and I met Sarah at Pie for Breakfast. We spotted from our picture window seat lots of Carnegie Mellon University students and their families on the way to graduation. I had the Mujadara-- a slightly curry-like rice and lentils dish, with the Cheezy Anson Mills Corn Grits (cheddar-y!), and we all shared a slice of the vinegar pie---a slightly tart version of pecan pie matrix, made from champagne vinegar (see recipe, below). Aisha was kind enough to drive us to South Craig Street, where Sara got an iced coffee.

Vinegar Pie

A cousin to chess and pecan pie fillings (minus the nuts), this pie is made from humble, on-hand ingredients. For a gluten-free dessert, transfer the filling to a store-bought gluten-free crust.
4 large eggs
1½ cups sugar
½ cup butter, melted and cooled
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1½ teaspoons vanilla
Pinch salt
1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Combine eggs, sugar, butter, vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and salt and mix well with hand-held mixer.
Pour into uncooked pie shell and bake for 25 minutes. The crust will be browned, and the filling will be almost set in the middle. Let cool on a rack before cutting.
Serves about 6.

We tootled back north to St. Paul Cathedral, where I was lector (2) for the noon Mass.

The noon Mass was celebrated by Fr. John of the Lawrenceville Friar community, Servers were Ted W, Elizabeth, and Eleanor E, cantor was Angelo R, and lectoring was by Alexis H (1), and myself.

M and I made pancit for lunch and later whilst J O called from afar. We both partook of an afternoon nap.

MON 20 MAY 2019- Went to physical therapy after a grocery run (for potluck and other items). B and MM stopped by after M and I made pot roast and watched Jeopardy! with James Holzhauer (back again after the 2-week long Teacher's Tournament).

TUE 21 MAY 2019- Went to the docent/NHI meeting at the museum, followed by the potluck. The lemon tea cakes were a hit. Met up with MK after her appointment. We went shopping in Bakery Square, grocery shopping in Friendship, and Asian dinner in Oakland after dropping off groceries (for Grandpa's favorite banana bread, et al.). Saw B and M before B left for Dear Evan Hansen with Papa. O, M and I went to vote late in the 19.00 hour.

WED 22 MAY 2019- Tsha and Trainee stopped by today. Physical therapy appointment after lunch.

THU 23 MAY 2019- REcollection- Video Transfer of videos at SPC.  Made chicken macaroni salad with M today. Went with DR to the PITT Alumni Travel Fair. No Choir practice.

FRI 24 MAY 2019-  Met witih a friend at South Oakland this morning. Checked in at the Eye Clinic. Caught lunch at McDonalds. Amanda, Dr. D, and Ms. Veronica were very helpful.Walked out with just sunglasses over my eyes.
Picked up D @ the bus stop. D drove M I to a party chez South Hills to celebrate!
After dessert and photos, D and I drove home to meet BB after her school trip to Cincinnati.

SAT 25 MAY 2019- Mom and I watched Monk (Season 4, Episode 13)---it was great; it rocked! We also watched the 24 MAY 2019 Jeopardy program which she had recorded. It was great---James Holzhauer broke the $2M mark.
Attended the 18.00 Mass at St. Paul Cathedral, celebrated by Fr. Kris Stubna (with altar servers, including seminarian Matt Hawkins), and the Mass was celebrated for Fr. Kris's mom and Dr. Rick. His family and friends were present  for the 40th day after passing. Family friends, Tito and Tita P stopped by for an impromptu dinner chez D and M.

SUN 26 MAY 2019- Attended a non-catered, homemade lunch at Dr Debbie's place with M, D, and BB. Chatted with Dr. O and family, he shares a family name with my (married) ninang.  Tita T is somehow related to them, as well.
Went shopping at Centre Avenue afterward. Went to the Dollar store, then to the drugstore, then, after more directions from D and M, back to the Dollar store. Enjoyed pound cake for snack from our afternoon baon. Time to eat. MM sent me a link.

MON 27 MAY 2019- Happy Memorial Day! I went shopping in the North Hills for
organizational containers,
electronic storage, and
a few food staples.
Still need to get RFID stuff, and also ankle support (in addition to accessory tools for my lower limbs).

Ate lunch with B when I returned, D went golfing with his friend, Tito L. B left to see L, and walked up the flights with a VERY large watermelon.

M and I watched Jeopardy!, in which James H adds to his $2M winnings. D came back and carved the very large watermelon from LM.

TUE 28 MAY 2019- Took care of correspondence and appointments. Arthur arrived, D and I picked him up at his hotel for dinner with M, D, B, and me at their home.

WED 29 MAY 2019- Medical appointment for my eyes (optometrist, Drex   ) early this morning. Stopped by the crafty/ book fair afterwards. Later, after lunch, had my physical therapy appointment.

THU 30 MAY 2019- Took care of bill for JUNE. No choir practice.

FRI 31 MAY 2019- Early physical therapy appointment. After lunch, Flcia stopped by to help out. Renewed some library books.
