Visiting the Reliquary, 27 July 2017

Saint Anthony's Chapel
Yesterday, 27 JULY 2017, after Mom's second appointment, Dad and I took her for burgers, fries, etc. in Brookline. She spoke w Tita T @ arrangements by phone. Dad and I drove to St. Anthony's Chapel. While sitting in the back and praying I could feel the presence of many saints, the air felt heavier. I spoke to a woman who grew up in St. Regis's parish. We talked about the grotto in Oakland, and the water in that area. I said that maybe it was her way of telling people to get baptized. I told Mom and Dad about some of the relics... I read part of the ceiling: "Saint Anthony,...Saint Mary, intercede for us [in Latin, I explained]."

I could walk with less pain afterwards: My Right ankle pain was masked by intermittent to continuous back/leg pain/ "sensations" in my Left leg..which was then greatly diminished after yesterday was over.  Most of the day was sedentary/ seated, and it rained after 20.00 yesterday (= 27 JULY 2017). Spent the rest of the evening on the computer and helping Mom with her email and correspondence.

As Mom says, "God is Good."

A reception of catered hors d'oeuvres and cookies donated by parishioners followed. Mom was the first to receive a blessing from Fr. Tom G. I was third to receive a blessing. His prayer card scene was of the Holy Thursday Mandatum.  EJ sat with our table and regaled us with his story of his new job, which made him happy.

MON 3 JULY 2017- Awoke early, then listened to WQED radio @ 6.00. Caught a 7.20 bus downtown, changed busses, then walked to Linda R's office. Saw Don W @ the Downtown branch library and checked out a Nicholas Sparks large print novel for Mom. Took a bus to take care of more errands, then to Magee-Women's to see C & M's first child. FRI 7 JULY 2017- Time to do chores with Mom like laundry. We watched America's Got Talent in the evening with Dad.

SAT 08 JULY 2017- Helped Mom with laundry, paid a bill, and led a Spotlight @ the replica tomb about the Power of Poison on galena, a cubic mineral (lead sulfide) that was ground to make the ancient Egyptians' kohl, a dramatic eye make-up. Both men & women wore it, mainly because they wanted to look sharp and were vain. Like football & baseball player's eye black, they used it to keep the sun out of their eyes, and a fortunate side effect of that was that it kept some common eye infections at bay. Eye infections were common because of the dry, dusty wind and pollutants in the air, such as pollens. Farthest visitors were from Thailand and Saudi Arabia, others included Los Angeles, Kansas City, New Jersey, Virginia, Arizona, and Texas; in addition to a whole bunch of local visitors. 109

Mom and I went to Aspinwall to shop, and spent time at the mall there. We also went grocery shopping in Bloomfield. I made tacos for dinner tonight!
