Watched informational video on University of Pittsburgh Discovery + Me program in Oakland. They took samples, and I went for a salad for lunch then at 13.00 to the University Art Gallery for a tour of the current exhibition on Andrey Avinoff (1884-1949), a former Director of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The exhibition is titled ANDREY AVINOFF: FANTASTIC VISIONS.

The tour was cancelled in favor of a group of Alex's (from History of Art and Architecture) students presenting a practice tour. Several displays on butterflies (how charming!), and some drawings of Tibetan royalty.

Evening was devoted to Choir practice for this SUN, the 32nd SUN in Ordinary Time, Cycle C through till Advent and Christmas music, too.

Went household cleaning supplies, grocery, and other shopping today. Went to the Dollar store, window shopping in Bloomfield, and grocery shopping in Friendship/Shadyside and in Palenkeng de Malaking Aguila in Shadyside.

Yoga Zoom class, with SCN and 5 of us. In the early afternoon, SLH and I went for Jeni's ice cream in Bakery Square. A small cone was Mexican Hot Chocolate (Cold AND Hot!) on top and Texas Sheet Cake (dense, deeeep Chocolate sensations) flavors.
Order by phone various events.
Found out Russ W's Dad, Bob, passed away quite suddenly.
Daylight saving time ends between 1:59 to 2:01 tonight/tomorrow morning.

Rehearsal and Mass by the choir, for the 32nd SUN in Ordinary Time, Cycle C. The noon Mass was the Annual Firefighter's Memorial Mass, honoring those fallen this year cycle. The Mass was sponsored by the Veteran Firefighters of Pittsburgh and the Firefighters Local #1.
Fr Kris Stubna celebrated the Mass.

Pipers before the Recessional Hymn
Rode shotgun with DW (following JS) to Ed Bob Weismann's visitation in Glenshaw. There was a line out of the funeral home to the parking lot when we arrived. Parking was at a premium. We three waited patiently next to a family friend, and greeted R and his family; I presented my card to him. There was a closed casket.
When we left, we noted the outside temperature at 77 Fahrenheit, and that it will plummet to ~ 20s Fahrenheit by this time next week. Followed JS back across the 62nd Street bridge, by the zoo.
Had an hour-long family Google Meet.

This morning, Lauren C and 4 of us were provided with a verb tenses sheet by LC. Nosotros practicamos charler via ZOOM.
At noon, the museum provided a Zoom webinar/Moriarty seminar lecture by Kea Johnston, PhD from University of California, Berkeley. I had lots of questions re: (generally) Ancient Egyptian Pigments and Colors, and Egyptian Blue, specifically. She mentioned that neither Organic nor Inorganic Chemistry were her fortes, but she provided a printed source for more information.
M and I returned some items, and then retrieved fast food dinner. Blogged the first ~ week or so of November. Watched Jeopardy! Second Chance with D and M. Sam, the professor from California, won this round. Tomorrow will be, for one night only, the warm-up round for Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, and Mattea Roach. We look forward to watching this match and to rooting for our favorite Jeopardy! player.
Today is Marya ("Marie") Sklodowska Curie's birthday---the only person to win the Nobel Prize in both Chemistry in 1911 and in Physics in 1903. D pointed out the earlier Physics Nobel Prize was won jointly with her husband, Pierre(, and Henri Becquerel for the discovery of both Po and Ra).

Election Day!
Rode the bus with a groupmate & friend, enjoyed a gourmet-like snack, and joined up.
Had assisted M to vote mail-in a while ago; cajoled D to go this afternoon before 16.00 or 17.00. Voting was in the basement of the church this time; first time for this, as well as no neighbors as poll workers.
Watched the Jeopardy! match tonight with M.

Sent emails this morning. Made Oatmeal Date cookies. Had an appointment. Received my new smart phone this evening.

At 13.30 A, the Verizon Wireless Technical Support Specialist, called to help me for a while with setting up my new Smart Phone this afternoon. Contacted SLH about getting together late this week.
Before practice, discussed my lector-instead-of-choir absences with BG. At choir practice, us ladies stayed in the hall to practice sectionals with BG. DW did post-practice snackage.

During the morning LS called me on this Veteran's Day. I spent 50 minutes on the recumbent bike while we talked.
At 14.00 I attended a hybrid Zoom-Live workshop on Building Your Own Puppet: A Puppet of Strength, as Dewi W and I were invited by MaCL to the JFCS workshop.
Watched Jeopardy! It rained a lot today.

At work today, it was a Super Science Saturday: Nature's Amazing Machines. I spent time in front of the Pennsylvania Woodlands in the Laurel Highlands diorama discussing North American mammals and other animal life, as well as between Sauropods in Dinosaurs in Their Time. One of my Outtake comments included:
One elementary-aged girl in particular had a LOT of questions about Sauropods. I answered some of her questions. I also asked her how she might answer some of her additional questions ("Google [the answer/s]," she said), and let her know that some of her questions were scientific in nature, and that she could answer them as a scientist would. "Stay interested in science," I mentioned, "It's fun!"
SLH and I went to retrieve my shoes from the podiatric cobbler, then went to Panera for hot beverages on a cold day. (Coffee for SLH, tea for me).

Sent my Outtakes quotes to BM, sent other emails. Watched part of the 10.00 televised Mass with M and D. Fr Mike Darcy celebrated the Mass, assisted by Deacon Tom Berna. Linda O cantored, James Hayes lectored. Donut Sunday was after the 10.00 Mass; I stopped by and said hi to Tom G, Diane F, and Rachel, ate a donut, and made my way to the Sacristy where Ted W was preparing diligently for the noon Mass. Soon Erica then Mia appeared, and soon after that the Sacristy was busy with activity.
Fr Kris Stubna celebrated the Mass, with Deacon Tom Berna assisting. I lectored, Erica Gamerro and 3 young acolytes served, Mia cantored, Brian directed the music, Ken was at the Beckerath console, and the choir sounded great. Music and readings included:

In the afternoon, dropped off M and D to meet with Anita L-J. Took a circuitous route to get to the North Oakland drugstore for D's sundry items. Stopped by chez D et M, got land line phone calls from Uncle A R, and from Aunt CVM. Went past the VA Hospital to pick them up; watched Jeopardy! with Amy, Andrew, and Sam, the survivors of the semi-final rounds.

Had a physical therapy evaluation this morning with Cara, whom I know from large joint problems. Went grocery and Christmas baked goods shopping in the South Side (arrived before the store was open). Dropped off groceries at D and M's place, drove to a work meeting. I arrived early for my email help slot with the IT department representatives. The help was two-fold. First, with my existing account, then with using that email on my handheld device. Had a cold lunch and then headed to class with DMc. Rode bus with my neighbor, Ja.
Got home to requests to work on returns/refunds on a December trip, which I addressed. Worked on the computer for a while, then ordered pizza online. D and I went to pick up our pizza. D, M, and I enjoyed pizza for dinner.

Busy afternoon and evening....We went to MUH for various offices, then I delivered them to get their immunization, to run errands in North Oakland, to the Strip District for Asian grocery and the fishmonger (D drove between those places and to home), to drop off tracts and to pick up a Rx in North Oakland, then for dinner back home. Time for the annual budget meeting at my place, then whisk off to be on time for Bible study via Zoom for D and me, facilitated by Fr Mike.

Had forgotten my phone chez MD's. Awoke early to retrieve it. Caught up with electronic communication and some phone communications. Organized Christmas gift boxes for both WA and JO's families. Went to Palenkeng de Malaking Aguila in Shadyside for Thanksgiving shopping and dessert shopping for this afternoon's visitors. Mailed the Christmas gift boxes for WA and JO's families. Stopped in North Oakland to retrieve M's prescription. Dropped off items (D took the bags) and turned around for an appointment in South Oakland.
Helped M with food preparation for the visitors. After their arrival time had passed, at ~14.10 we called them---they had decided not to come, but forgot to inform us. Finally, D, M, and I had lunch. Took care of more phone and electronic and email communications.
Watched recorded Jeopardy! with D and M. Amy Schneider won the best of 6 games. Some of us don't like her smug attitude.

The 08.15 Mass at Cathedral was a Mass in memory of CRV, "my A Mimang." Ken played a Pinoy Marian tune as the organ prelude, "It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)," (made famous by Elvis) as the Offertory hymn, and "Ama Namin," the Pinoy Pater Noster, at Communion. Additionally, the entrance hymn was "From the Father's Throne on High," verses 1,2, and 3. The recessional hymn was the same song, verses 4 and 5.
The first reading was Revelation 14:14-19 and the Responsorial Psalm was 96:10,11-12,13; the Gospel Reading was Luke: 21:5-11.
Fr Steven delivered a homily which was about St Cecilia's life.

Dropped off kitchenware for S with R in the Strip District. Got some egg rolls and manok pancit noodles. D dropped me off just in time for a meeting in Oakland, which ran over. I stopped by Maggie and Stella's for some Christmas candy on the way home. Photos of the urbanscape were taken.
Lunner/Lupper of 2 egg rolls atsaka pancit. Dealt with email and blogged. Thanksgiving week practice is soon (this evening).
Brian was serious during practice, saying that if we like all of us singing together, that we must want for it to happen...that is, we must want to make it be so.

Auntie Mimang's birthday today. After lunch, I went to pick up items at Ross Park Mall. Was back by 14.30. As today is the busiest travel day of the year, I left ~1 hour before my appointment with CT-K. No Bible Study today, the day before the Holiday. k called to say under the weather, and to postpone our holiday get-together.

Such a relief---Gratefulness abounds! Minimal cooking. I cooked the end of the Oatmeal Date cookie batter. When baked and warm is excellent with very cold milk.

I went to a medical appointment at Mercy Hospital this morning. All was normal.
Dined at the Cafe Carnegie with M and D. M and I enjoyed the beef brisket and short ribs burgers with thin cut French Fries. D enjoyed the salmon salad.
M and D and I picked up Thanksgiving dishes from S: dinuguan, ginataan, atsaka biko.

Watched parts of the televised 10.00 Mass with D and M. Fr John Pfannelstiel celebrated the Mass, with Deacon Tom Berna. Nathan cantored, accompanied by organists at the Beckerath console. Luke and the usual server were acolytes at this Advent 01 Mass this morning. Julie Beroes lectored.
Before the end of this Mass, I headed to choir rehearsal. The Mass was celebrated by a visiting priest, probably an Oratorian priest who is fairly new. The woman who cantored was new, and the lector was Deborah Davis, and, a woman provided Communion to the choir.

Busy day. Physical therapy with CT-E and B. SLH and I went to the library to checkout a book for me. Went to the Palenkeng de Malaking Aguila in Shadyside for chicken for lunch. Went to a DM group. Hurried to pick up M for her appointment with JL.
Watched Jeopardy! with M. Cris from NJ has won a lot of money in a number of 30-minute-long episodes of Jeopardy!---more than Ken Jennings had at the same point in his winning streak (as reported by Ken Jennings).

Awoke early today. Checking tasks (mostly of phone calls and computer work) off my Lists today. Making a big dent in the Lists.
Chilling this afternoon (literally, and chill'axing, too).
Bible Study via Zoom this evening. Fr Mike Darcy led the Bible Study, with 7 attendees.
DY read the first reading for the 2nd Sunday of Advent (Cycle A), Is 11:1-10
I asked a (rhetorical?) question, "Was the Fall necessary for Adam and Eve to reverse (the Bad)?"
I read the second reading, Rom 15:4-9. Fr Mike mentioned that the theme of Welcoming from Reading 1 is continued in the Letter of St Paul to the Romans.
Fr Mike continued by reading the Gospel reading, Mt 3:1-12, mentioning that Cycle A Gospel readings are drawn from Matthew. During the discussion I noted that Jesus is the Great "I Am." In declaring that, he does so with great Humility using a BEING verb.
Then, later on Holy Thursday, Jesus gives the disciples The Mandatum. "I give you a New Commandment: That you love one another as I have loved you." In doing this, he Commands his disciples using a DOING verb.
There it is, BE and DO."~~~~~
There is something to be said for Right BEing and Right ACTion.
There is a parallel in Faith and Right Works.
And there is God's Grace helping the process of Right Being and Right Action along.
And God's Peace is always present so we can accept the outcome/s graciously.
