Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad!
For brunch I took Mom & Dad out for breakfast foods...to the same place Maureen took me on McKnight Road. We had:
me: Cherry cheese blintzes
Mom: Bacon & Eggs with Hawaiian pancakes
Dad: Blueberry Belgian waffle
We got Miranda a Michael's gift certificate, and then Mom & Dad stopped by Robert's in the Strip District to pick up Benny's Pirates shirt and also bought more Pirates memorabilia.
Just called Uncle Sonny to leave a musical birthday message on his answering machine...Mom at the piano, Dad, & I.
This was my first full day of physical therapy exercises on my own. Just finished my second time today for exercises. Even did the "Jane Fonda" exercise again this evening.

Palo Alto, April/May 2008
Arrived late last night after a layover in Phoenix. Benny was sick at home, so he had me, Mom and Dad, and Phyl and Gene watching him today. We transplanted a mini mandarin orange tree, played with dinosaurs, read books, waited for his Daddy to come home for lunch, and took a "nap," for all of five minutes. Joyce arrived bearing a Thank You/appreciation basket from work. Baseball/whiffle ball was played by Grandma Phyl, Lolo, and Benny at bat. He really has a good eye!! I took some photos of the backyard activity.
When Joyce and Miranda arrived from school, we examined the silkworms, and I told them about the trees in our yard growing up. Mom and I gained a whole wardrobe each from Joyce, who is now a size zer0! We had dinner of corned beef, ciabatta, steamed broccoli, and salad. I gave the kids showers, during which time Miranda asked me about how hair grows...we discussed it before bedtime reading. Then Miranda practiced her part reading the general intercessions/petitions for Sunday.
Getting ready for bed and a big day tomorrow!

Lost Cause?
One of my former advisors has on his web page several of his interests, including the fact that he is also "a supporter of certain 'lost causes.'" When one clicks on the hypertext link, there appears the Red Sox home page. I suppose with their winning the World Series pennant this year (sorry, Laura), they are no longer a lost cause. Before a Newman Center meeting this evening we discussed how the Rockies came from virtually nowhere to clinch a spot against Boston. But it was not meant to be that the Rockies were to win the title this year.
So, Fenway Park's team is doing well again. My, it's been too long.

Pirates Game June 2007, Anna's Ninth Birthday
Just returned from the Pirates v. White Sox game. Mom, Dad, William, and I enjoyed seats between home plate and first base directly above field level seats. There was a tagging fiasco by the Pirates between second and third bases, in which the tagging was not recognized by the judges....The fellow behind Mom caught a fly ball. We departed at the seventh inning and dropped William off at home.
Earlier this evening Mom, Dad, and I went to Anna's ninth birthday party. This year the invitations went out quite late (the night before, for us). I am usually the annual game-meister, with Dean acting as one of my co-meisters last year. Both of us had to leave early: I for the Pirates game, and Dean for dinner with his parents at Sweet Basil/La Filipiniana. He stayed a little beyond when we left, stating, "You owe me one...for next year," and I figured I'd be game-meister again, next year.
The food at Anna's party was delicious---I had two kinds of lumpia--fried vegetable, and Shanghai; Greek plain pastitio; chicken adobo with sauce on a bed of white rice; a raw veggie tray; and leche plan, and cassava bibinka. There were twice as many dishes as mentioned here, with long buffet tables set up in the back of their backyard. Anna's dad, John, was recuperating from a broken hip, so he wasn't present at the party. Her guests were from school, Greek school, and jazz classes, as well as her friends from dance troupe in FAAP.

Pirates Game May 2007
Thursday I went to Bible Study and Jeff, Alroy, Ajay and I grabbed some pizza and headed to the Pirates v Padres game at PNC park.
It was great to have field-level seats and to watch the kids line up to catch practice balls between innings. We even got to high-five the racing pierogies! There was a dispute between the Padres and the judges/umpires that started to get a little physical! The rain started near the end of the game, cooling us all off. Alroy and Ajay agreed that baseball was WAY more interesting than cricket.
