This email Laura sent me today reminds me of one I received on March 16th 2006: Tag, You're It! from Marissa. That email asked for fave hobbies, and I listed "exercise: Dance and swimming" as favorites. My current condition makes dance unable to be done. My, how fast things change....

I thought of a great movie to add to my "list" of two--Sliding Doors...
...and another, The Rock.

Week off Teaching: Upwords, Monk and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Choir, Dining Out

It's been a great week off from classroom teaching. This past week Mom and I have been playing Upwords after dinner. We have some great boards, of which I took snapshots.

We've also seen some Monk, including a new episode tonight, Monk and the Three Julies, which had references to Hitchcock's Psycho. We also watched several episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, including one about The Baptism, from season 2.

After two weeks of no choir practice and one Sunday off, we were back to choir practice this Thursday night. Don actually admitted to missing us, and I admitted to doing exercise other than choral huffing (ha ha ha-ing) that day...I actually got 45 minutes of PT done, and some lat pulldowns. I also read the Scripture for Mass that day, with Fr. Brian as celebrant, John as server, and Don as music ministry.

Anjali and I had lunch at Victor's restaurant Tuesday, and four of us Wellesley gals (Kelly, Natalie, Stephanie, and I) dined at the Union Grill tonight. Stephanie announced that the eve of the last day we saw her Steve proposed to her. (We saw her lovely ring.)

Happy New Year 2008

New Year's Eve, I napped for a couple of hours after watching part of the game show Pyramid marathon with Mom. At about 11 pm I woke up Dad, and we watched the Channel 4 news, which was followed by Dick Clark's New Year's Eve in Times Square (boy, he's been doing his therapy for his stroke!) We watched the new, multi-faceted Waterford crystal ball descend, then hugs and kisses followed. We had a snack of bagels, crackers, and schmears, as well as cookies and various sparkling beverages.

6-7pm
Mom and I just watched an episode, "Mr. Monk and the Airplane" (2002), as part of a Monk-fest.

Water Exercises I, Monk

Click on the links only if you want to know what happens in the episode.

After work today I went to the pool to do some water exercises. It is magical what a difference exercising in the water makes...Floating and being buoyed up by the water as I do my exercises that would normally make me grind to a halt in pain if I were to do them with such vigor on land. Plus, being in the water is always so calming.

Mom made a delicious dinner (as usual) of

kare kare at talong atsaka sitaw,
kanin

and corn.
She and I just finished watching an episode of Monk, Joyce's favorite show. This episode was entitled, "Mr. Monk Is Up All Night." It was a wonderful show, with a couple of surprises in the plot.

We are all tired, and have a big day tomorrow. My alumnae club's "Day to Make a Difference" will be serving brunch at a local Ronald McDonald-type House, Family House. Then William and Marissa and Marissa's parents will join us for a hearty lunch. If I finish all my work I will go out in the evening.
